The British Foreign Secretary, David Cameron, said that disappointment should be shown with the behavior of the Government of Serbia, after the events of September in Banjska of Zvečan.

During a report before the Foreign Affairs Committee of the British Parliament, Cameron said that because of the attack in Banjska, which happened on September 24, he stayed in Pristina on January 4, to see the situation closely.

In September, a group of armed Serbs attacked the Kosovo Police in Banjska, killing a police officer. During the clashes, three attackers were also killed. Kosovo blamed Serbia for the attack, but Belgrade denied any involvement.

The responsibility for the attack, which Kosovo considers terrorist, was taken by Milan Radoičić, the former vice-president of Serbian List- the main party of Serbs in Kosovo, which enjoys the support of official Belgrade.

“We must show our growing disappointment with the behavior of the Serbian Government. Of course, we have not changed our mind to give Serbia a chance for Euro-Atlantic integration. But I think there is frustration with their behavior and we should be clear about that. Whether the EU and the US share this frustration, I don’t know, you have to ask them. But, from the conversations I had, I felt there was disappointment because what happened in Banjska was a moment of great danger,” said Cameron.

The British chief diplomat was asked why the British Government has not published its assessment of the events in Banjska. He said that the British Government knows very clearly what happened on September 24 in the north of Kosovo, inhabited by a majority of Serbs, adding that if the Kosovo Police did not manage to stop the group of armed attackers, there could be a a series of other attacks on police stations and barricades would be set up.

“I am aware of how dangerous it was, that’s why it was one of the reasons I went to Kosovo”, said Cameron referring to the visit to Kosovo a few days ago.
