Albania is going through another wave of covid-19. In the judgment of epidemiologist Ilir Alimehmeti, there is nothing to worry about because such waves of infections that rise and fall will always be present.

The coexistence of the pandemic virus with other seasonal viruses will mean that we will always have cases and sick people.

“From time to time there will be such waves, it will always be present with smaller and smaller waves”, said Ilir Alimehmeti, epidemiologist

While asking Albanians not to worry, Alimehemeti says that when 3 years have passed since the pandemic, Albania should have introduced rapid tests for Covid in pharmacies.

A necessity in the judgment of the epidemiologist is the monitoring of the situation through the monitoring of waste water, which is not done due to the lack of laboratories.

“Wastewater should be monitored and provide information for 10,000 or 40,000, gives you an almost two-week forecast of how the progress will be”, said Ilir Alimehmeti, epidemiologist.

Cases of coronavirus have increased significantly in recent weeks. Most of the infected are being treated in apartments, while hospitalizations are not lacking.
