The Appeals and Sanctions Commission (KAS) of the Central Election Commission has decided to open all ballot boxes in the Tirana district for a full vote recount. The decision was made following a request by two KAS members from the Democratic Party (DP), and includes every polling station in the district.

Due to the large volume—over 1,282 ballot boxes—the recount process will take place at a later, yet-to-be-determined date, as it requires time for logistical organization.

The news was made public by CEC member Ledio Braho, who stated:

“Regarding the request for evidence—the examination of the ballot boxes in the Tirana district—KAS has rejected this appeal by majority vote. However, at the request of two KAS members, the ballot boxes for the Tirana district will be examined. As this process takes time to organize logistically, given there are over 1,200 polling centers, the timeline for organizing this process will be determined at a later date. Political parties have the right to appoint observers, and the process will be overseen by the DP administration.”
