The Serb List has not been certified by the Central Election Commission (CEC) to participate in the early parliamentary elections of December 28 in Kosovo. However, this party, which enjoys the support of Serbia, filed an appeal today with the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP/PZAP) and expects to be part of the electoral race, reports KosovaPress.

This has caused dissatisfaction within the party, which has the full backing of official Belgrade and its leader, Aleksandar Vučić.

In a press conference, the chairman of the Serb List, Zlatan Elek, referred to Kosovo using the name of the former regime instead of its constitutional name.

“For the third time, elections are being held in the territory of Kosovo and M… this year. Unfortunately, for the third time we are faced with a situation where the CEC in Pristina violates the rights of the Serbian people and does not certify the Serb List, simply erasing the Serb List and not allowing our political entity to participate in these elections. Why do we say this? The Serb List is by far the strongest Serbian party in the territory of Kosovo and M…,” Elek said.

He stated that the party has ten mayors in Serb-majority municipalities and therefore has the right to participate in the elections.

“Unfortunately, Albin Kurti’s regime in Pristina wants to prevent the Serb List from participating and, at the same time, to deny the Serbian people the right to elect legitimate representatives from among their own,” he said.

He added that they have filed an appeal today with ECAP against the CEC’s decision not to certify the Serb List and expects the decision to be overturned, adding that the party will win all ten seats in the December elections.
