Central Election Commission has taken measures against some candidates of the May 14 elections, fining them for violating the rules regarding the acceptance of donations.

Ilirjan Celibashi, the head of the CEC, emphasized that these candidates had received funding outside the rules and not through banking channels.

Among those who were punished are:

• Arif Tafani, the mayor of Belsh, with 206 thousand ALL.
• Armando Subashi, the mayor of Fier, with 138 thousand ALL.
• Emirjana Sako, the mayor of Durrës, with 75 thousand ALL.
• Kreshnik Hajdari, the mayor of Kuçova, with 500 thousand ALL.
• Majlinda Bufi, the mayor of Roskovec, with 243 thousand ALL.
• Mariglen Dishe, the mayor of Librazhd, with 125,000 ALL.
• Agron Malaj, the mayor of Burrel, with 80 thousand ALL.
• Bukurosh Maçi, the mayor of Peqin, with 70 thousand ALL.
• Albert Mlyshi, the mayor of Mirdita, with 300 thousand ALL.
• Bardh Spahia, the Democratic Party candidate in Shkodra, with 445,000 ALL.

In addition to individuals, political entities such as the Socialist Party and the Democratic Party were fined 300,000 Lek and 200,000 Lek, respectively.
