Census data for Tirana: Most married and female, 10 thousand divorced

Tirana has 598 thousand inhabitants, of which 500 thousand are over 15 years old. According to origin, 53% were born in the capital, while the majority of newcomers are from Dibra, Kukësi and Korça.

598,000 inhabitants live in Tirana, of which 500,000 are over 15 years old. The majority of residents, 51.6% are female, while 48.4% are male.

The door-to-door population census in October 2023 showed that 300,000 people in the capital are married, and these constitute the majority in relation to singles, while 10,000 are also divorced.

The capital has faced a dynamic of changes during the last decade, attracting thousands of residents from other urban and rural centers, but also residents who were born abroad.

The figures show that 97.9% of the residents of Tirana were born within the country and 2.1% have another country as their birthplace.

Meanwhile, according to the origin, there are 393 thousand or 53% autochthonous inhabitants of Tirana, while the others in order come from Dibra, Kukësi, Korca and Fieri. Lastly, the residents of Tirana who have Lezha as their birthplace have the lowest weight with 2% or about 14 thousand residents.
