Sources close to Euronews Albania have confirmed that German Chancellor Angela Merkel will be visiting Tirana on September 14.
Merkel chose Albania as the country where she will meet with Western Balkan leaders in line with the Berlin Process.
Her visit was initially announced by AP and then confirmed for Euronews Albania by sources near the Prime Minister’s Office.
During her visit, the chancellor is also expected to hold a press conference.
Merkel will meet with the heads of governments, except for Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, since the meeting will be on a prime ministers’ level.
The last time Merkel visited Albania was back in July 2015.
At the time, Prime Minister Edi Rama described her visit as “historic” and thanked Germany for its continuous support in the country’s path towards the European Union.
