The leader of the Union for Human Rights Party, Vangjel Dule, said that the behaviour of the majority leaves no room for a civil campaign.
The rules are unilateral, says Dule, adding that he predicts an aggravating political climate until election day.
“Our electoral system has a problem with the equality of the vote. There are MPs that are chosen with 5-6 thousand votes, while citizen groups with 15-16 thousand votes have not been able to choose their representatives”, claimed the party leader.
He said, that the opposition’s decision to “burn their mandates” did not bring the desired impact as instead it should have rocked the political scene.
The new Electoral Code does not favour small parties, proclaimed Dule, adding that the electoral threshold is a will mainly serve the majority,
“In every system, the electoral threshold implies a mandate, while in our case it doesn’t”.
Speaking directly about his party, he said that their electorate comes mainly from 4 counties.
PBDNJ could not act as it pleased in the previous elections, said Dule while suggesting to join forces and create a single large coalition with other opposition parties.
“Whatever happens, the decision of the opposition will be well coordinates”, said Dule, reiterating his support on forming a large coalition.
“In Tirana, it is different to be in a coalition which gets 5 mandates and in another which receives 15 mandates. By reducing the lists, Rama thinks that he will be able to motivate fewer people and prevent the opposition from getting a certain number of votes. I don’t think that his wish will be fulfilled, as no trick will minimize his loss” concluded Dule.
