The storm “Ciara” that flooded Florence and Tuscany, has also affected Albania this Friday, where problems have appeared in several cities.
Situation in Tirana remains problematic, where many of the capital’s streets are flooded with water, making it difficult for vehicles to circulate.
It is also reported that in some areas electricity has been cut. The high rainfall has caused the level of the Lana River to rise significantly, which is in danger of overflowing.
Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has called on citizens to avoid unnecessary movements in order to minimize leaving their homes.
An officer was injured after being hit on the head by an object falling from a height, as a result of the wind.
The most problematic areas in the country are expected to be the cities of Shkodra, Lezha, Elbasan, and Korça. It is predicted that the rain will continue throughout the night, while Saturday morning is expected to be an even more alarming situation.
According to meteorologists, this is code red, as there will also be flooding, due to the storm which has affected all of Europe.
