Krasta Hill, known as the “lung” of the city of Elbasan, is being enriched with new trees thanks to a citizen initiative aimed at increasing green areas and protecting the environment.
The initiator of this action is a young resident, Ervin Skënderi, who decided to plant 2,500 trees in the area, continuing a similar initiative he previously carried out in Gramsh, where he planted around 5,000 trees.
Thanks to this initiative and other actions carried out earlier, the total number of seedlings planted over the past two years on Krasta Hill has reached around 35,000.
“I chose Krasta as one of the most beautiful resources of our city to do something good for the place where I live. Inspired by the initiative I carried out in Gramsh, where I planted about 5,000 trees, I decided to make this gift to my own city as well. I live here and I adore this beautiful place. Even today, as I was coming here, I saw many people jogging. Let’s leave a beautiful mark in this city,” said the initiative’s founder, Ervin Skënderi.
Hundreds of citizens and nature enthusiasts joined the action, contributing voluntarily to increase greenery and protect one of the most important natural spaces in the city.
“Krasta Hill is the lung of our city and we must protect it with great dedication. We must do the best we can for this hill. One of the reasons I joined Ervin is that we all need to support initiatives taken by any citizen to plant as many trees as possible, to provide oxygen not only for our city but perhaps for the whole of Albania,” said contributor Bledi Krraba.
With every new tree planted, the city of Elbasan aims to improve air quality and preserve green spaces, while this initiative shows that community engagement can directly contribute to environmental protection and the transformation of the urban landscape for future generations.
