The Secretary of the Tirana City Council, Behar Beja, has sent a letter to the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.
In response to Mayor Veliaj’s statement that the Secretary cannot take on the role of a collegial body, since his competencies are purely administrative, Beja clarified through the letter that there is no decision prohibiting Veliaj’s participation in the meeting.
“Honorable Mayor,
Following your correspondence no. 32059/3 prot., dated 22.09.2025, we bring to your attention that the City Council has not issued any decision preventing your presence in this meeting, which would deprive you of the right to be informed, to be heard, to defend yourself, and to provide clarifications at the Tirana City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, 23.09.2025 at 16:00.
In addition, we reiterate that further to your request to be physically present at the City Council meeting, but due to the impossibility of attending, we kindly ask that you submit your observations in writing to the Council so that they may be administered and made known during this meeting,” the letter to Veliaj states.
