Concert with the Balkan Ensemble, Works by Foreign Composers Performed

Classical works and contemporary creations by Balkan authors were brought on Monday evening in a concert in Tirana. The unique chamber music ensemble, the Balkan Sextet “Pro Arte,” performed for the first time in the capital, near the main hall of the University of Arts.

With a diverse program that included works by both Albanian and foreign composers, this concert offered the art-loving public sounds performed for the first time, as well as a rich repertoire that reflected the diversity and cultural unity of the region.

The Balkan Sextet “Pro Arte” is composed of distinguished artists from Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Albania, while the musical program included works by composers Ludvig Thuille, Kreshnik Aliçkaj, Endri Sina, and Arthur Benjamin.

Renowned artist Ilir Kodhima is also part of this ensemble, while during this concert the bassoonist Fatos Jaho was honored, as he was part of the sextet’s original formation.

This concert was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of the Republic of Kosovo as well as the University of Arts, marking an important event for the Balkan musical scene.
