Unpublished documentary in Euronews Albania investigates the phenomenon of “call girls” and brings the confession of a 28-year-old Albanian escort.

“Around 7 years ago, when I was 21, I started to realize that I enjoyed shopping, but an Albanian salary wasn’t enough and I couldn’t buy what I wanted. That’s why, the only way I could make all my wishes come true was to sell my body,” – said the escort, who wished to remain anonymous. 

The young woman admits that she chose this profession after seeing how much money her friends were making while working as escorts.

“My friend was involved in something like this and she became an example for my younger self, who wished to had a better financial status. My first clients were found through my friend,” – she states.

Through her clients, the young woman expanded her network. In the beginning, she only dealt with Albanians but after with foreigners as well.

“We provide our services in different locations. I’ve also had to see them in my own home, when they were repeated clients. I would use my car or a taxi cab and after I ask them for gas money,” – she says.

With time the cab drivers would become mediators between the girls and possible clients. This is especially common with foreigners coming as tourists, whose contacts can also be found near hotels.

“Clients are from all different walks of life. Our best bet is foreign businessmen, who request a companion and are far from their families. They are usually Italian businessmen, who come here to invest.” – she says.

Escorts definitely have a much higher fee than regular working girls that are found in the streets.

“It varies, but in the beginning I would get 100 euros. After 2 years, in 2016 I started to make some personal investments in my face and my body and I raised the price,” – she says.

“This way the fee become 200 euros for 2 hours. Whereas for those that want an actual companion that they like to show around, within the country, my fee is 500 euros,”- says the young escort.

This young woman works independently and finds her own clients, which has resulted in some clients often abusing her.

“There have been times when I’ve been cheated.  There was the case of the 23-year-old, who got drunk and abused me. Another time a client hit me in the head with a phone,” – she says.

At the end of this interview our guest said that this is a philosophy of life for her.

“Here in Albania, you can’t live a good life any other way,”– the escort concluded her confession for Unpublished.
