The opposition has asked Speaker of Parliament Niko Peleshi to allow a representative of their group to attend the parliamentary session that will review the duration of the Constitutional Court judges’ mandates, in line with legal provisions.

In a letter addressed to Peleshi, the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party requested the accreditation of legal expert Marash Logu, who would represent the party during the session where the start and end dates of the Constitutional Court judges’ terms will be discussed.

Sources close to the opposition stated that, due to the importance of the issue and the need to ensure transparency, they will request that the session be open to the public and the media.

The session is scheduled for October 16, based on a request from the President of the Republic, who has sought an interpretation regarding the duration of the Constitutional Court judges’ mandates.
