The Albanian economy grew 4% in the third quarter of the year, while the final consumption of the population fell by 2.3%, compared to the second quarter.

The contraction of import and export shows that in Albania the supply of goods was smaller than a year ago, while foreign tourists have only replaced the local residents, who rested outside during the summer. Likewise, the increased prices in the tourist season influenced the reduction of expenses.

INSTAT reports until the month of September, but it is likely that the period of the end of the year will also bring similar signals of a decrease in consumption, starting from the messages given by citizens about the increased prices of products.

In November, inflation increased, compared to October, and the Bank of Albania’s short-term forecasts show that citizens are more inclined to save.

Immigration is also a factor in the reduction of consumption in the population, which is still dominating in relation to migration.
