COVID-19 update: One fatality and 12 new cases reported in last 24 hours

In the last 24 hours, Albania has registered one fatality and 12 new infections from COVID-19.

Data published by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection affirmed that the positive cases came as a result of 2.170 tests.

The COVID-designated hospitals are currently treating 42 patients, 7 of whom in the Intensive Care Unit.

According to the Ministry of Health, 93 citizens have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries since the beginning of the pandemic to 129.308. In Albania, 2.450 citizens have lost their lives due to COVID-19, as doctors specify that most of them had accompanying underlying health conditions.

The Technical Committee of Experts announced that starting from June 1st some of the restrictive measures will be relaxed.

Measures that will be lifted:

  • The protective barrier or mask isn’t obligatory in outdoor spaces, but it will continue to be required indoors and in public transportation vehicles.
  • The curfew will now start at 23:00 p.m. – 06:00 a.m.
  • Night clubs and discos will continue to remain close. Music will only be allowed until 22:00 p.m.
