The two-seater sports aircraft found crashed in the region of Kelmend continues to remain a mystery.

Authorities declared that after searching the abandoned engine, found nearly 800 meters away from the border with Montenegro, they did not find anything of interest, including a flag, document of origin, or any other form of registration.

According to the police, the pilots have not been identified either, nor the reason why the small plane crashed during takeoff.

Euronews Albania journalist Eni Ferhati reported that it is almost impossible for radars to detect these types of aircraft, however law enforcement authorities have been questioning several witnesses.

The State Police is also looking for clues from Montenegro and Kosovo to learn the itinerary.

The small two-seat plane crashed in the region of Kelmend yesterday in the afternoon. The mayor of Malesia e Madhe told Euronews Albania that locals had immediately approached the engine to offer assistance to anyone that could have been on board but were told to leave.
