The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti and his deputy, Donika Gërvalla, have taken stock of the year that is ending, considering it successful. However, the opposition parties do not have the same approach, thinking that 2023 has only had failures and bad things for the government of Kosovo.
“The only success of this Government is the engagement of advisers with salaries of thousands of euros per month, without any result for Kosovo. The irresponsible approach of the Government of Kosovo, the open and public clash with our main allies, led to the reduction of ambitions for Kosovo by the mediators of the dialogue. And as a result, we ended up with an agreement, which is neither comprehensive, nor final, nor with mutual recognition at the center. We ended up with a draft statute accepted by Prime Minister Kurti, which is essentially a Constitution for Kosovo Serbs and creates a parallel system within our Republic,” said Vlora Çitaku, Democratic Party of Kosovo.
“The pinnacle of this government’s failure is the Association’s draft statute which was presented and at the same time the management of the entire dialogue process. As a state, we have an obligation to preserve the sovereignty, freedom and vital institutions that we have. Kurti as prime minister has managed to seriously challenge the one-tier system of the Government of Kosovo. We are convinced that the Constitutional Court will correct the mistakes it has made” – emphasized Besnik Tahiri, Alliance for the Future of Kosovo
Tahiri said that the Government of Self-determination has failed in all sectors where it had the biggest promises.
“The PISA result was the lowest that the Republic of Kosovo has ever received. Unfortunately, although this result has reflected the logic of this government in strengthening education in Kosovo. The one-by-one actions in the education sector, starting from the intention to suppress the representatives of the education unions to the creation of neither infrastructural conditions nor higher education conditions for scientific research, shows that this government in the sector for which he has spoken the most, he has completely failed,” Tahiri underlined.
PDK sees the solution to this in new elections next year.
“I would like in this conference to talk about other topics, because we should all be happy about Kosovo’s successes in foreign policy. Unfortunately, despite all efforts to find even a success of Kosovo in foreign policy, it was impossible. Actually, the foreign policy of our Republic this year was non-existent. In the next year, with the holding of new elections, this destructive and divisive mentality of this Government will come to an end” – emphasized Vlora Çitaku.
There was also criticism regarding the economic situation, especially the situation with the salaries of public servants and other issues.
