The Chief of Diplomacy in Croatia, Gordan Grli Radman has made a statement earlier today encouraging five EU member states to recognize the independence of Kosovo.

He stated that such an act would contribute to the stabilization of the Western Balkans region.

“Croatia encourages the other five EU member states to recognize Kosovo, because this would contribute to the stabilization of the region and Kosovo as well,” stated Radman Grlic before journalists in the international conference GLOBSEC in Bratislava, reports Kosova Press.

According to him, respect for the territorial integrity of countries is fundamental for the stability of the region.

He also said that this can be made possible without the need of heading for the idea of border changes, a thesis, which is circulating in the press.

“The territorial integrity of Balkan countries should be protected and respected, without recreating borders, like we’ve heard in recent months, with the famous circulation of non-papers, which were heading in that direction,” stated Radman.

Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Spain and Slovakia are 5 EU member states that are still not accepting or recognizing the sovereignty of Kosovo.
