Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said today that he is not worried about the situation in the region, despite growing tensions between Belgrade and Pristina.
“The international community is strongly engaged in dialogue”, said Plenkovic in an interview for Politik, saying that Belgrade and Pristina are interested in progress on the road to the European Union, writes Euronews Serbia.
Speaking about claims that he could be appointed to one of the important posts in the European Union, he said that he is “fully focused” on the job of prime minister and a third victory in the elections in Croatia.
He added that the European People’s Party (EPP) is focused on returning to power in Italy and France, the party’s former strongholds.
“We want to do more to strengthen the EPP parties in the big states,” Plenkovic said.
EPP is represented in Italy by Forza Italia, the party of the late Silvio Berlusconi, which has just seven percent of support but is part of Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni’s governing coalition.
However, France’s EPP Republicans, once the country’s main party, now have just nine percent of support.
