Albania is experiencing a record year for tourism. Elbasan had twice as many visitors as last year. This is confirmed not only by the high number of tourists on the streets of the city, but also by the documentation of visits to the Ethnographic Museum in Elbasan.
“Yes, even here at the Museum we had many visitors, comparing it with a year ago, we are talking about the tourist season, May-September, we have double the number of visitors. Most of them were German, because last year we had few organized groups that came with agencies, this year we had a lot,” said Silva Belegu, Director of the Cultural Heritage Center.
Ethnographic Museum of Elbasan, in terms of its type, culture and originality, is one of the rarest in the country. But what are visitors interested in seeing more in this museum?
“When they come, they have clear ideas, they have received guides or information, they know that there is an Ethnographic Museum in Elbasan, and when they leave they are satisfied with what they have seen. Not all of them are expert ethnographers, but they manage to understand that clothing and other objects are original,” said Silva Belegu, Director of the Cultural Heritage Center.
In the Ethnographic Museum in Elbasan, the life of a family from Elbasan is reflected in a characteristic house built with a gazebo, which is also a special building in terms of architecture.
The most visited objects are the Ethnographic Museum, the field castle of Elbasan which dates back to the 15th century AD, the Paleo-Christian basilica of Bezistan discovered in recent years, historical and natural monuments such as the Bezistan maple tree, cult objects, etc.
