During the meeting behind closed doors of the leadership of DP, Lulzim Basha has stated that “In the Democratic Party there is space for everyone, but we cannot have differing opinions on the theft of these elections”. He has also emphasized that the elections were stolen and that based on this reasoning, the accusations shouldn’t be directed at him or weighing down on him.
“In this party, there is space for all, there is space for everyone’s ideas about the ways we need to bring this battle forward and bring down the Rama-Doshi regime. However, I have the full conviction and a strong sensibility that we cannot have differing views on April 25th. Because if the elections of April 25th are just an episode that wants to be covered from the shame of our history of pluralism, if we are clear on the fact that April 25th was the greatest electoral massacre in our history of pluralism, then we cannot accept to point fingers on anyone in this room, before pointing it at the opponent against whom we have been standing,” said Basha.
During his word, the leader of DP spoke on the denigrating campaign that was led against him, adding that “I carry the burden of all these attacks because I believe in Albania and because I believe that Albania needs change, it doesn’t need another greater thief, or another stronger partner of the gangs and the mafia”.
In his word, the leader of DP also spoke on the post-electoral battle, asking his party structures to not create division. “I am certain in the justice of our battle. I know that the majority of democrats think like me, I can feel their anger after the electoral massacre of April 25th, and I knows that they are ready to turn this anger into the energy that is necessary to fight our battle until victory. This is why, I ask that we continue the road we have started. United in this defining moment for the future of our battle and the fate of our country; let’s improve, together, all those things that we can and certainly should improve,” declared Basha.
Fatbardh Kadilli has continued to hold his stance against Basha, saying that he “has made many mistakes during the campaign”.
“Many mistakes were committed during this campaign. The problems during the election shouldn’t justify our defeat. For a certain part of the problems, you are yourself responsible. Another part, you have been unable to stop. The battle for the vote is fought from within the system. This battle will continue any time there are elections”. You are a repeated loser because of your own personal defects. You led everything alone, without forums, without including anyone,” declared Kadilli.
According to the member of DP’s leadership, the responsibility for the defeat lies only on the leader of the party, which is why he is asking for his irrevocable resignation. “The loss is yours; the responsibility is yours. We have supported you by sacrificing our identity and political profile; our career and everything,” concluded Kadilli.
“You built the opposition based on coincidental causes and you were destined to lose. You abandoned many causes by corrupted the trust of your supporters. You didn’t build a clear report and trust with your strategic allies; you remained hostage of your private lobbying and you never held a solid and strategic approach. Don’t hide behind the support that you are looking up and about the party. Even Berisha had an absolute support from the party, but he had the realization to leave,” added Kadilli.
