The government has officially announced the entry into force of the Transparency Board. The decision was signed by Prime Minister Edi Rama and provides for the establishment of a special board to monitor and intervene in the market.

According to the provisions, hydrocarbon companies have until March 24 to submit to the ministry responsible for the economy the names of their representatives, who will be part of this board. This mechanism is expected to convene within the week to set maximum price limits in the fuel market.

Meanwhile, for several days, fuel prices in the domestic market have remained unchanged, despite fluctuations in international markets. Currently, fuels are being traded in the range of 214–217 lek per liter, levels that have been maintained since March 19.

In a previous statement, Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that if the fuel price exceeds the threshold of 220 lek per liter, a 20% reduction in excise tax will be applied as a measure to ease the impact on consumers.
