The Directorate of Public Diplomacy and Diaspora in MEPJ informs that the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Albania, Alastair King Smith, has been presented this morning with a Note Verbale from the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

Through this Note, the MEPJ expressed concern about the latest statement with discriminatory language against Albanians by the British Minister of State for Immigration, Robert Jenrick.

“The Ministry of Education emphasized that this repeated rhetoric violates the positive spirit of bilateral cooperation confirmed in the Joint Declaration between the Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania Edi Rama and the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, in which, among other things, the shared assessment of the role of the Albanian diaspora in Great Britain and its important contribution to the culture, economy, and society of both countries. The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs requests the avoidance of this language of hatred and discrimination and the continuation of dialogue and constructive cooperation in order to implement the commitments undertaken together as two democratic countries, partners and allies in international organizations”, read the MEPJ statement.
