DokuFest has arrived in Tirana for its 22nd edition this year and welcomes all film lovers to be part of the festival on the night of July 27.
With the support of the Municipality of Tirana, “Open Air Tirana” will offer everyone a somewhat cooler evening near the Artificial Lake in the Albanian capital, as DokuFest will showcase various documentaries and short films.
Documentaries and film categories include “Balkan Dox”, “International Feature Dox”, “International Short Dox”, “International Shorts”, “Human Rights Dox”, “Green Dox”, “Truth Dox” and “National”.
More than 3,000 films from 111 countries were submitted to DokuFest, but only a selection of 104 films will be showcased.
International Documentary and Short Film Festival, DokuFest, with its historic center in Prizren, Kosovo, has come a long way from just a small non-profit film festival created in 2002 to become the largest such festival in Kosovo and the region.
In its 22 years of running, DokuFest’s purpose was to establish the vision of reinvigorating cinema and enriching the cultural landscape of Prizren.
DokuFest is a European Film Academy (EFA) nominating festival for short films, as well as a British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) qualifying festival for shorts.
The visual theme of the 22nd edition was revealed a week ago, “I AM AI AM I” developed by Ali Cindoruk of the Khora Office, as a futuristic approach inspired by the human evolution with technology.
“The relation between human and Artificial Intelligence is at the center of this year’s theme of DokuFest. Following on last year’s existential examination of humanity in crisis, the festival is returning with yet another grand dilemma worth of exploration and the one that many of us still don’t have a clear idea how good or how bad it is and what will its consequences be in the future,” the DokuFest website states on this year’s theme.
After its short stop in Tirana, DokuFest will continue during August 4-12 in Pristina.
