Former president Bamir Topi in an interview for Euronews Albania commented on the current state of the Democratic Party, which is divided into two groups.

According to him, it is Berisha who has always had the title of historical leader and continues to hold this title within the DP.

Topi also said that in DP since its foundation, step by step, a healthy debate has not been accepted and at the end of any debate or clash of ideas there have always been departures of the party’s political elite.

“In the event that there is someone responsible for the pejorative part, what is happening there, why is that party intellectually impoverished, this is absolutely related, I have no doubts that it leads back to Sali Berisha,” said the former president.

According to him, it was Berisha’s imposed authority that brought about everything that is currently happening within the Democratic Party.
