Spokesperson of the EU for Foreign Policy, Peter Stano, has responded to the interest of Euronews Albania regarding the provision of information on the draft statute proposed by Prime Minister Rama for the formation of the Association in municipalities with a Serbian majority in the North of Kosovo.

In the answer sent to the journalist Thimi Samarxhiu, Stano emphasized that any proposal and constructive contribution is welcome, regarding the facilitation of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

Stano chooses not to give details on the content of the proposed draft statute, but underlined that the discussion and drafting of the Association’s statute can only be done within the dialogue facilitated by the EU.

He added that he hopes that the EU will welcome as soon as possible the session for the drafting of the Association, for which the invitation was sent to the parties for June 5, but which was postponed due to the developments in the North.

“Any constructive contribution to the dialogue mediated by the EU between Belgrade and Pristina, in the framework of which the Association/Community of Municipalities with a Serbian Majority is being discussed, is welcome.

Borrell is in constant contact with the leaders of the region and EU member states.

As it was said earlier, the discussion and drafting of the Association Statute can only be done within the dialogue facilitated by the EU.

An invitation to the first drafting session of the Association at expert level was sent to both parties on June 5.

The meeting could not take place due to the escalation on the ground.

Instead, Lajčák traveled to Pristina and Belgrade.

The EU as Facilitator of the dialogue is ready to host the drafting session soon and is in contact with both sides”, says Peter Stanos’ answer.
