The singer of Albanian origin, Dua Lipa, has criticized the statements of the British Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, who described Albanian immigrants as criminals who have invaded the island.

During an interview for “Sunday Times”, the singer said that the statements made by British secretary have hurt her and called for more empathy.

She added that such statements by senior British officials show small-mindedness.

“Of course, all the words thrown about immigrants hurt. I always thought London was a melting pot of cultures. It is a characteristic part of the city. It’s small-mindedness, but unfortunately it’s also the way many people think.

No matter how we try to change the rhetoric, there will always be those who think that immigrants are coming and taking jobs.

However, the immigrants who have come here have earned their money by working extremely hard. There should be more sensitivity, because people do not leave their country if it is not necessary, out of fear for their family”, Dua Lipa said.
