At the Venetian Tower in Durrës, a literary and musical commemorative evening was held in honor of the great Albanian poet Naim Frashëri, marking the 125th anniversary of his passing.

Renowned actors Yllka Mujo and Ndriçim Xhepa praised the legacy of the poet whose works continue to inspire generations.

Held in the historic setting of the Venetian Tower, the event — titled “Naim Frashëri: In Memoriam” — offered a poetic and emotional journey into the world of his words, blending artistic performance, music, and reflection on the poet’s timeless heritage.

The “Aleksandër Moisiu” Theatre troupe presented artistic interpretations, while the audience was deeply moved by the voices of two iconic Albanian stage figures, Yllka Mujo and Ndriçim Xhepa, who delivered Naim’s verses with sensitivity and grace.

Actress Yllka Mujo said that reciting Naim Frashëri’s works is always a pleasure, emphasizing the poet’s immense contribution to Albanian literature.

“It’s truly a pleasure to recite and read his verses, especially since it’s been some time since we last performed them. As years go by, the longing and desire grow stronger, and it becomes even more emotional. Naim made a great contribution to our literature with the hymns he wrote for the homeland,” she said.

Literary scholar Rovena Vata highlighted the significance of this anniversary, describing Naim Frashëri as the central figure of the Albanian National Renaissance.

“Naim Frashëri, our national poet, is the central figure of the National Renaissance. He gave a voice to Albania, to Albanians, and to the Albanian language itself. No one loved Albania and the Albanians more than Naim Frashëri,” she stated.

The evening concluded with long applause, as a heartfelt tribute to the poet of patriotism, morality, and knowledge, Naim Frashëri, who remains an eternal inspiration for every generation.
