On Wednesday, the European Commission disbursed a sum of €90 million to help Albania alleviate the consequences of the pandemic.
The news was confirmed by the EU Ambassador to Tirana Luigi Soreca and it is in line with the regional financial assistance program, which amounts to €3 billion.
The decision was followed by a Memorandum of Understanding which outlines the conditions that need to be fulfilled in order to profit from the second disbursement of €90 million.
The conditions are related to improved governance in the social protection realm.
On Twitter, Ambassador Soreca said that the EU’s aid is “another strong and concrete” demonstration of the EU’s solidarity with Albania in these times of crisis.
