The Bank of Albania has published its Economic Sentiment Survey based on responses collected during January. The survey shows that businesses across all sectors of the economy have reported improved assessments of their business activity. The Economic Sentiment Indicator recorded an increase of 4.2 points, standing 10 points above its historical average.
This improvement was driven by increased business confidence across four sectors of the economy: industry, construction, services and trade.
Among the sectors with the most positive expectations, services remain at the forefront, with an increase of 7.4 percentage points this month. This was influenced by more optimistic business assessments regarding demand levels and the current performance of their activities. Expectations are also high regarding the number of foreign tourists expected to visit the country this year, following the close of 2025 with approximately 12 million foreign visitors.
The Industry Confidence Indicator increased by 4.8 percentage points in January, supported by improvements across all three of its components: business assessments of industrial production, total order contracts, and exports. In the construction sector, expectations also remain optimistic, with the sentiment indicator rising by 3.1 percentage points, influenced by business assessments of construction activity and current orders. Enterprises operating in the trade sector likewise expect improved sales performance and an increase in employment levels in the future.
Meanwhile, consumer confidence remained unchanged compared to the previous month.
