Turkish cryptocurrency boss Faruk Fatih Ozer is to be extradited to Turkey.

After several postponed hearings, this Thursday the Court of Elbasan made a final decision. Ozer, who is accused by the Istanbul prosecutor’s office of defrauding Turkish citizens with cryptocurrencies by extorting nearly $2 billion dollars, has opposed the decision with the argument that the issue is political.

28-year-old Ozer hid from justice by staying in Albania until August 30, when he was arrested in Himare.

Faruk Fatih Ozer was wanted in April 2021 by Turkish authorities for serious fraud through a cryptocurrency scheme.

The ‘Thodex’ company he ran declared bankruptcy and he left Turkey.

For these reasons, the Turkish citizen was declared internationally wanted by Interpol Ankara.
