High temperatures have influenced the increase in health problems among the elderly and chronically ill. In some cases, they have been directed to the medical assistance units located in several parts of the capital.

At the point installed in Skenderbej square, the number of visits was even higher.

“The number of patients we had was realistically high, especially in the first week when the temperatures were quite high, it reached up to 60 patients per day, given that the temperatures were very high and hypothermic glands were high in number”, said Mirjana Lamaj, emergency doctor.

Emergency doctors have managed almost all the cases in the field, but there were those who were sent to hospitals for specialized treatment.

“99% of the cases were managed in hospitals”, said the doctor.

But tourists, who have asked to monitor their health parameters, have gone to the emergency units quite a few times.

“I am a tourist from Norway, it is very hot here compared to Norway, so I stopped to see my health parameters, and it turned out that they are normal. I really appreciate the medical service here”, said the tourist.

In order to provide emergency services in a faster time during the tourist season and high temperatures, four medical assistance units are installed at different points in Tirana and five in the districts. Meanwhile, 18 ambulance units are in coastal areas.
