The director of the ODIHR mission, Urszula Gaçek spoke to Euronews Albania journalist, Ardit Hoxha about the electoral process of the April 25th elections. In her interview, Gaçek spoke about the main areas and issues, where the 12 monitoring teams of OSCE/ODIHR will be focused during their stay in Albania.
The director of the ODIHR mission defined the implementations of the recent changes to the Electoral Code as challenging, especially the ones of October 2020, which according to her, were too quick and thus need more consultation.
Gaçek also stated that the new option available to Albanian citizens this time around, to choose their preferred candidate as well as the political party, is a positive change, but she emphasized that is it crucial that at this stage, there can be informative campaigns making sure that citizens are familiar with the ballot paper and know exactly what to do and ‘how to choose, exactly who they intend to choose’, on election day.
