The former commanding chairman of the Democratic Party Enkelejd Alibeaj, invited to Euronews Albania, said that the figures after the elections were not the reason why he resigned.

According to Alibeaj, it cannot be said that the Democratic Party has lost, since according to him, these elections clearly showed that there are supporters from the voters, since they voted despite knowing that the Democratic Party would not be able to win.

Alibeaj added that now the Democratic Party is clearly positioned in its philosophy and added that despite resigning from the PD leadership position, he continues to be its vice president.

“Leaving the leadership position is not related to the numbers after the elections. This was not a defeat, Democratic Party has been resized before these elections for everything that has happened in 1 and a half year from an internal aggression, the aim of which was to execute the Democratic Party, but in my view not only is it not executed but survived.

It has survived not only in terms of numbers, that the voters were convinced that they were not voting for the winner, but they believed in this conviction, this is a support of the Democratic Party for the future.

Today I can say and everyone will have the opportunity to understand, Democratic Party is clearly positioned in its democratic philosophy. In these terms, this can never be seen as a failure”, said Enkelejd Alibeaj.
