For the first time in Albania, it was shown on Tuesday evening in the Auditorium of the General Directorate of Archives (DPA) “Era dhe lisi”, produced by “Kosovafilm”.
“Era dhe lisi” made by director Besim Sahatçi in 1979 is the last cinematographic production to be broadcast by DPA, as part of the repertoire of films selected to be shown in the context of the 80th anniversary of Liberation.
The general director of the Archives, Ardit Bido, was present at this event, who said that through the implementation of this initiative, the DPA is not just an archive, but a cultural alternative for the public in the capital.
“Through this production of ‘Kosovafilm’, we overcome a division imposed on us by state borders. Likewise, we give the deserved weight to the National Liberation War, which avoided the Nazi occupation in Albania and Kosovo, making the division between the partisan patriots and the regimes that were installed afterwards. The message we must convey to the youth of our nation is that when the homeland is threatened by foreign forces, we must respond to the sacrifice for freedom. Meanwhile, a second message is that liberation does not always bring prosperity, so to ensure it, we must work continuously”, said Bido.
In her opening speech, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Silda Çepe Anagnosti welcomed the screening of local cinematography films as an opportunity to witness the sacrifices of previous generations.
“Let’s honor this film as a priceless asset of Albania. This film is a treasure of our national art and a powerful testimony of our Albanian identity. The film “Era dhe lisi” reminds us of the sacrifices of past generations and the challenges that Albanians have faced with dignity. Such works put us in front of the responsibility to increase our role in their promotion”, said Anagnosti.
On this anniversary of historical importance, the evocation of collective memory has been the focus of the DPA’s activity, which has engaged in this direction through the display of exhibitions and the publication of dedicated publications.
