Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, will be visiting Albania soon, confirmed a spokesperson of the President Office during an interview for local media Anadolu.
Ibrahim Kalin said that Turkey is already collaborating with Albania in the defense industry, adding that “peace and stability in Albania mean peace and stability for the entire region”.
“It is in our interest to help Albanian authorities in fighting terrorism, human trafficking, the war on drugs and similar offenses”, Kalin said.
The Presidential spokesperson said he spoke to PM Rama over bilateral relations, regional issues and emphasized the Albanian premier’s latest visit in Turkey was very productive.
“Albania has long and deep-rooted historical ties with Turkey”, said Kalin, as he reiterated that the countries are working closely on several sectors, from trade to security and regional issues.
Furthermore, he added that cooperation in improving infrastructure, healthcare, trade, investments, security, education, culture, and history channeled through various Turkish institutions operating in Albania will continue.
Abdylvehap Ejupi, a journalist living and working in Turkey, told Euronews Albania bilateral cooperation in the defense sector is something normal given that the countries are regional and NATO allies.
Increasing the budget by €8.5 million will serve to buy more drones in Turkey which will help convey information on war against organized crime and informal economy at a much faster pace.
