The special envoy of the US Department of State for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, will visit Serbia on March 15.

The senior American official, as Radio Free Europe finds out, will also visit Kosovo this week.

In Belgrade, Escobar is scheduled to hold separate meetings with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and with the Serbian Prime Minister, Ana Brnabic.

The visit of the high US official to Serbia will take place 3 days before the new round of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, which will be held on March 18 in Ohrid, North Macedonia.

Likewise, Escobar will stay in Belgrade after the two-day visit of the EU emissary for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, who also stayed in Kosovo last week, to prepare the Ohrid meeting. The US supports the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia, which is mediated by the EU. Washington also supports the European proposal for the normalization of relations, which was accepted on February 27 by Kosovo and Serbia.

At the March 18 meeting, Kosovo and Serbia are expected to discuss the implementation of this proposal.
