Immediately after the vote in which Klodian Braho was elected head of SPAK, the EU Ambassador, Silvio Gonzato, who had been present and observing the seven-hour process, spoke to journalists at the premises of the High Prosecutorial Council (KLP).

Ambassador Gonzato emphasized the importance of Braho’s election, praising his experience and professionalism.

According to Gonzato, Braho’s appointment sends a clear message about Albania’s commitment to the fight against corruption and organized crime, strengthening SPAK as a more credible and effective institution.

“We were here today to show our support for the KLP in its duty, but also to express our interest in the appointment procedure. This is because SPAK plays a crucial role in the fight against organized crime and corruption, and you know this is one of the key requirements for Albania’s membership in the European Union. We stressed that SPAK needs a chief who will continue the work of this institution and emphasized that the candidate should possess a high level of independence, integrity, and strong professional standards,” he said.

The ambassador also highlighted that the EU expects cooperation with the new head of SPAK to continue with transparency and professionalism, contributing to the strengthening of the rule of law in Albania.

“We congratulate Mr. Braho on his new position and look forward to working with him with great anticipation,” said the ambassador.
