The European Union Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, paid a visit to the Special Appeals Chamber, where he met with its Chairman, Sokol Como.

He emphasized the importance of completing all vetting activities before June 2026, when the constitutional mandate ends, describing this step as essential for Albania’s justice reform and its integration into the European Union.

The ambassador reiterated that the European Union remains strongly supportive of the vetting process and the International Monitoring Operation (ONM), stressing that the verification process remains the backbone of justice reform.

“The recent unfounded attacks and disinformation against the ONM and international observers are unacceptable, as they aim to undermine public trust in the justice system and to compromise the progress of the justice reform,” he said.
