The EU ambassador in Albania, Silvio Gonzato, participated this Monday in an activity organized by the School of Magistrates, where he delivered several messages to the new magistrates in Albania.

Gonzato called for maintaining the independence of justice institutions in the country, stressing the importance of the responsibility and accountability of judges and prosecutors. He pointed out that without independent institutions, there cannot be an independent judiciary and underlined the essential role of transparency in the functioning of the justice system.

Gonzato also congratulated Albania’s progress in justice, especially for the increased involvement of female magistrates in the judicial system, calling this an important achievement for the country.

He added that the achievements of the justice reform should be further consolidated.

“All the achievements of the Justice Reform must be further consolidated, not only in the punitive aspect of the fight against corruption, but also in the war of warning.

It is important not to leave behind the spirit of the Justice Reform, taking into account elements that can improve or hinder its implementation, and it is important to protect it. You have all our support”, said Gonzato.
