The European Union considers the organization of the new round of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue a priority, at the level of chief negotiators.
But EU spokesman Peter Stano did not give a date for such a meeting, saying the date would be made public in due course.
A day ago, the EU envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, said that he will stay in Pristina to prepare the new round of dialogue, without giving more details.
“As usual, we announce the meetings when it is convenient. We do not usually announce meetings at the level of chief negotiators to the media. But, without a doubt, our goal is to have a meeting at the level of chief negotiators as soon as possible because there are a number of issues to discuss”, said Stano.
During the press conference in Brussels, Stano was asked about the closure of five Serbian parallel institutions from Kosovo last week. He repeated the position expressed by the bloc that these actions are unilateral and uncoordinated, with the potential of increasing tensions.
Even the United States, France, Germany and the United Kingdom have criticized Kosovo’s actions in the north.
The Government of Kosovo has said that the closed institutions in the north of Kosovo were working under the leadership of Serbia, “violating the constitutionality and laws of the Republic of Kosovo”.
In addition to the five institutions closed last Friday, in April the Kosovo authorities closed seven other parallel Serbian municipalities in other parts of Kosovo, writes REL.
In Kosovo, there are municipalities, public companies and enterprises, kindergartens, primary and secondary schools and public universities that are directly financed by the Government of Serbia, and which are located in the cities and towns where the Serbian community lives.
According to the laws in Kosovo, these institutions are illegal.
In 2013, Kosovo and Serbia, in the dialogue for the normalization of relations in Brussels, reached an agreement on the extinction of parallel institutions, but this agreement has not yet been fully implemented.
