The European Union said that the early local elections, held on April 23 in four municipalities in the north of Kosovo, “do not offer a long-term political solution” for these municipalities inhabited by the Serbian majority.
“This can only happen through the permanent return of Kosovo Serbs to institutions, and for Kosovo to enable their return. The work must be finalized as soon as possible, on the establishment of the Association of municipalities with the Serbian majority”.
Serbian parties did not participate in the elections for the new mayors of North Mitrovica, Leposaviq, Zvecan and Zubin Potok.
Serb List – the main party of Serbs in Kosovo – despite the fact they did not participate in the elections, they also called for a boycott.
