The role of the Management Team for the statute of the Association of Serb Municipalities in Kosovo ends only when that statute is approved. Therefore, according to the European Union, the decision of the government of Kosovo to dismiss it, is contrary to the Agreement.

That’s what the spokesperson of the EU for foreign policy and security, Peter Stano, said during a press conference in Brussel this Thursday.

Asked which delegation the Management Team was part of in the last meeting, Stano said that the team participated “as a separate delegation” and that “they were invited to join the meeting for one of the items on the agenda. They were not part of any delegation, neither Serbia nor Kosovo,” declared Stano.

He also said that the composition of this team “is in accordance with the dialogue agreement”.

“The parties had agreed on the composition of the Management Team. Its members have been proposed by Serbia and officially appointed by Kosovo,” explained Stano.

The Minister of Local Government Administration in the government of Kosovo, Elbert Krasniqi, dismissed the members of the team on May 3rd. The team, consisting of four Serbs from Kosovo, participated in the last meeting of the high-level dialogue, where they also presented the first draft of the statute of the Association of Serb Municipalities, a proposal which was immediately rejected by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.

Moreover, Kurti said that the coordinator of this team “is in a conflict on interest” because she took the oath as a deputy in the Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
