The European currency started the week with a depreciation.
It is now trading at 103.6 Albanian lek, or 0.4 points less than the weekend.
Exchange rate indicators indicate an unstable exchange rate compared to the Albanian lek, even after the announcement by the Bank of Albania to intervene in the market.
The second week of August can be considered the peak tourist moment, which reflects in the devaluation of foreign currencies due to the large influx of money brought by visitors from abroad.
However, this sharp decline has raised concerns, especially for manufacturing and exporting businesses.
The Bank of Albania announced that it would buy up to 300 million euros from the domestic market to stabilize the exchange rate, and so far, it has purchased around 190 million euros.
The European currency experienced strong fluctuations in the early days of August, gaining about 4 points against the Albanian lek, but it is again heading on a downward trajectory.
Even the other currencies circulating in the Albanian market, the US dollar, the British pound, and the Swiss franc, are worth less than last week.
