The euro is experiencing a strong cycle of decline against the lek, while the summer season has not yet arrived. The European currency is being exchanged for 100.7 lek in the foreign exchange markets.

The euro continues to fall in the exchange rate against the lek. The month of April proved that the European currency had a performance similar to peak periods, such as July or December, when the largest flows from abroad come.

Today it is exchanged for 100.7 ALL. Market experts argue that the flow of tourism, where the number of visitors is 40% higher than last year, had a big impact on this trend this year.

If this is the key factor, it signals that the exchange rate will continue to fall further, during the summer, when Albania is expected to experience an overloaded tourist season.

The lek has strengthened over the last few years, even against other currencies, such as the dollar, the franc and the pound, which at the end of April are being converted to historically low levels.

The Bank of Albania and the Government have not guaranteed to protect the large exchange rate fluctuations, but have found ways to help specific sectors that have faced losses.
