European Golf Championship took place in Pilos, Greece, where 11 countries participated, including the Albanian National Golf Team represented by the players, Erjon Tola, Hazis Allkja, Ejtan Memeti and Dritan Nelaj.

The championship took place in 4 days of strong competition, where Albania managed to enter the quarterfinals.

For the general secretary of the Albanian golf federation, Marin Harxhi, the result obtained by the Albanian golfers is hopeful for even better results in the future.

“So far the performance has been extremely good. On the first day we are ranked fourth, which gives us hope for the future. We still have extraordinary tournaments”, said Marin Harxhi, general secretary of the Albanian golf federation.

Meanwhile, the captain of the Albania team, Erjon Tola, said that despite the hot weather, the result obtained by the Albanian athletes increases the chances of aiming for even greater goals next year.

“It is normal that the weather conditions are very challenging for us, because they are very warm conditions around 30 degrees and the sun is very strong, but I am still very happy for the performance of our team that manages to maintain a position among the best countries of Europe”, said Erjon Tola, captain of the Albanian golf team.

This is the first time since the establishment of the Albanian golf federation in 2011 that Albania enters the top 8 European teams, making an impressive and very dignified performance.

Under the guidance of the new president of the Golf Federation, Armand Metani, the Albanian national team has already entered a new dimension where priority is being given to young Albanians around the globe to play for the red and black jersey and honor it in every international competition.
