The European Parliament is set to approve the annual report on Albania tomorrow. Minister of State Taulant Balla has expressed his gratitude to the major political groups in the European Parliament and the European Commission for their support.
In a social media post, Minister Balla emphasized the strong backing Albania has received from the main political groups in the European Parliament, as well as from the European Commission, for its EU accession within this decade.
He highlighted that this year’s report places Albania at the forefront of Western Balkan countries in terms of progress in the accession process.
“Gratitude to the major political groups in the EP and the European Commission for their clear support for Albania’s EU membership within this decade. The key point in this year’s report is that Albania is leading the Western Balkans in this process,” Balla wrote.
Regarding electoral reform, he clarified that the new Parliament, which will begin work on September 10, will be the institution to address these issues.
The report on Albania has been drafted by Austrian MEP Andreas Schieder, who previously stated that “Albania can proudly be called the ‘front-runner’ among the EU candidate countries.”
