The price increase in July turns out to be at the level of 5%. This is the conclusion drawn by Eurostat, unlike INSTAT which reports 1% lower.
The price increase in July was 5%, according to the estimate made by the European Institute of Statistics. At this level, there seems to be a clash of figures, as the Institute of Statistics in Albania produces a lower result, with inflation of 4.2%.
With the methodology used by Eurostat, the biggest price increase was seen in entertainment and culture, followed by food and other groups.
Meanwhile, the average inflation in the European Union was 6.1 percent in July.
In EU countries, inflation has decreased at a much faster rate than in Albania. The Union faced double-digit price increases last year driven by high energy prices, while in Albania, food-driven price increases have remained stable.
For the economy to be healthy, inflation should be around 3 percent, and with the forecasts made by the Bank of Albania, this level is expected to reach in the first part of 2024, if the markets will function normally.
