Spanish artist Sasha Primo painted a character on one of the walls of a building located at Tirana’s Student City and his work has since then sparked a heap of negative reactions on social media.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, he commented on the phenomenon, saying that he is actually glad that his work is being associated with the LGBT+ community because he himself greatly supports them.

“What I painted this is not directly related to the LGBT+ community, but I like that people can freely interpret my work,” said Primo.

The painter also said that art has given him the opportunity to transform the characters and this is what makes his craft so special.

“I want my work to be open for anyone to see and appreciate whatever they want from it,” added Primo.

According to a statement released by the City of Tirana, the artist in question, after finishing a mural in a short time for the “Mural Fest”, asked to create a second one, inspired by a Roma woman who was panhandling close to the apartment building where he had been working in while in Tirana.
